The Election of the AIITAFI Officers (2010)

Being an officer of the Association of IIT Alumni Foundation entails commitment and responsibility that should be taken seriously and carefully discharged.

WE WANT YOU TO BE PART OF THIS GROWING ALUMNI NETWORK OF IITians COMMITTED TO BRING GLORY AND HONOR TO OUR ALMA MATER AND TO HELP OUR BELOVED 91¿ì»îÁÖ IN OUR OWN WAY.

This year marks a new beginning in the history of 91¿ì»îÁÖ as we embark the very 1st  AIITAFI Automated Elections on July 10, 2010.

All 91¿ì»îÁÖ alumni (from the high school, undergraduate and graduate programs) should register in our Alumni & Friends Registry at http://www.iit.edu.ph/alumni-friends/registry/on or before July 9, 2010 for you to vote. There will also be an on-site registration on the day of the election, July 10, 2010, at the 91¿ì»îÁÖ Gymnasium. This is a strategy for us to further strengthen our alumni database. To avoid delays, please register now!

WE WANT YOU TO BE PROACTIVE IN OUR ALUMNI ASSOCIATION. PLEASE VOTE AND BE COUNTED. PLEASE JOIN AND HELP OUR 4th ALUMNI HOMECOMING.

Excerpts of the AIITAFI Constitution and By-laws:

Section 3Term of Office – All members of the Executive Board shall hold office for two (2) years with the right to be re-elected and shall serve their posts until their successors are duly elected and qualified. No officers shall be eligible for re-election in the same position, directorship or committee assignment beyond two terms.

Section 4Meetings – All members of the Executive Board shall hold a quarterly meeting duly arranged by them. A notice of meeting shall be sent two weeks before the scheduled meeting.

Section 5Qualifications – A member shall not be eligible for election to the Board unless he has the following qualifications:

  • He is a lifetime member;

  • He is a member in good standing.

  • He must possess the qualifications required under Section 1 of Article III of these by-laws.

Note: Travel cost of elected officers from outside Iligan may be subsidized by the association.


IMPORTANT DATES


Extended deadline for Filing of Certificate of Candidacy (CoC): July 8, 2010, 5 p.m.

Qualifications of Candidates:

  • A candidate must be a lifetime member of the AIITAFI (proof needed: AIITAFI ID Card or Official Receipt of Payment of Lifetime Membership Fee) and is a member in good standing.

  • He/she must be at least 21 years old at the time of the election.

  • He/she has been an AIITAFI member for at least one (1) year prior to the date of the election.

Requirements for Filing Candidacy:

  • Duly accomplished CoC Form

  • Photocopy of AIITAFI ID Card or Official Receipt of Payment of Lifetime Membership Fee
  • Recent Curriculum Vitae

  • Platform

Campaign Period: July 8-10, 2010


Voters Registration Period and Venue:

  • On or before July 9, 2010 - Internet: Log on http://www.iit.edu.ph/alumni-friends/registry/

  • July 10, 2010 (Election Day) - 91¿ì»îÁÖ Gymnasium: Present your Alumni ID Card or Official Receipt of Payment of AIITAFI Membership Fee and be ready with the following additional registration information: your valid (active) email address and your contact number(s)

NOTE: To avoid delays, please register in advance via the Internet.


Election Day Period: July 10, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Conduct of the Election: This will be an automated election using a system developed at the 91¿ì»îÁÖ Information and Communication Technology Center (ICTC) accessible via voting terminals in the designated polling place. See Process Flow below.

Who can vote: Any member of the AIITAFI who is duly certified as member in good standing, including fresh graduates. VOTING IN ABSENTIA IS NOT ALLOWED.

What to bring: Alumni ID Card or Official Receipt of Payment of AIITAFI Membership Fee

Process Flow:

  1. If you have registered via the Internet, go to Step 2. Otherwise, approach the Registration Desk and show your Alumni ID Card or Official Receipt of Payment of AIITAFI Membership Fee and then give the following additional information: your valid (active) email address and your contact number(s).
  2. Obtain your Personal Identification Number (PIN) from the PIN Issuance Desk by showing your Alumni ID Card [or Official Receipt of Payment of AIITAFI Membership Fee]. You will need this PIN when you cast your vote in one of the designated voting terminals.
  3. If you now have your PIN, choose a terminal where you want to cast your vote. If the terminal is available, use it and do Step 4. If none is available, please wait in the sitting area and do Step 4 later when a terminal becomes available.
  4. Now, enter your PIN as shown on the terminal screen (it's a touchscreen). The system itself will assist you in the process by showing you the instructions on the screen. If in case you are having difficulty using the system, please ask our personnel for assistance, to avoid delays.
  5. After you have cast your vote, please leave the terminal immediately so that others who are waiting for their turn can use it. And remember, you can only vote once!
