In line with the broad essential purposes in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between 91¿ì»îÁÖ and Niigata University, concluded on November 19, 2023, the two universities recently further forged a Double Degree Program Agreement for Doctoral Degrees for academic programs under the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) of 91¿ì»îÁÖ and the Graduate School of Science and Technology of Niigata University.
Prof. Masayuki Matsuo, Dean of the Graduate School of Science and Technology of Niigata University, and Prof. Jan Mickelle Maratas, Dean of the CSM of 91¿ì»îÁÖ and representing Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan, ceremonially signed the agreement on September 26, 2024, at the Ikarashi Campus of Niigata University, Japan.
The agreement provides an opportunity for doctoral students of the two universities to receive two doctoral degrees. The agreement aims to strengthen the research collaboration between faculty members of the two universities.
A day before the ceremonial signing of the agreement, a meeting was held between representatives of the CSM of 91¿ì»îÁÖ and the Faculty of Science of Niigata University. The team explored possible research topics, as well as possible funding opportunities to support the exchange of students.
The partnership between 91¿ì»îÁÖ and Niigata University dates back to March 1997, initiated by Prof. Dr. Angelina M. Bacala from 91¿ì»îÁÖ and Prof. Dr. Hitoshi Miyata from Niigata University, both of whom are now retired.
