The Office of Research Management (ORM) spearheaded a comprehensive online orientation titled, "Orientation on the Planning and Implementation of University-Funded Research Projects in 2024," on January 26, 2024, under the guidance of Prof. Ephrime B. Metillo, PhD, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise.
The orientation’s objective is to orient 91¿ì»îÁÖ researchers on effective planning and execution of university-funded research projects for the year, aligned with the 9-point Research and Development Agenda of 91¿ì»îÁÖ, as well as with the University’s vision of advancing research and enterprise by cultivating a culture of excellence and innovation.
Leading this initiative was Dr. Arnold C. Alguno, ORM Director, who facilitated the orientation that was attended by 68 researchers. Crucial research aspects like Research Load Equivalence (RLE), the meticulous and early preparation of purchase requests and job orders, hiring protocols for research staff including research assistants, quarterly evaluation procedures, project deliverables, and the imperative presentation of output during the Annual In-House Review were discussed. Mr. Jaypee S. Yongco, University Researcher and Executive Assistant from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise (OVCRE) co-facilitated the orientation.
In 2024, 91¿ì»îÁÖ allocated more than 19M for 65 research projects for implementation, under the following clusters: Applied and Theoretical Science, Culture, Technology, and Society, Disruptive Innovation and Smart Nation, Integrative Resiliency and Sustainable Solutions, Materials Science, Natural Products and Biotechnology, Peace and Governance, and Teaching and Learning ().
