91¿ì»îÁÖ welcomes international co-teachers for Computer Science and Information Systems

For the second semester of AY 2023-2024, the 91¿ì»îÁÖ College of Computer Studies (CCS) has implemented international collaborative engagements with the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh (ITS) Nopember based in Surabaya, Indonesia; the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) based in Johor, Malaysia; and ChangeMaker based in Selangor, Malaysia. The academic collaboration involves co-teaching engagements with faculty members from ITS, UTM, and ChangeMaker for subjects offered by the BS Computer Science and BS Information Systems program of 91¿ì»îÁÖ.

ITS is ranked 128 in the 2024 QS Asia University Rankings, 621-630 in the 2024 World University Rankings, and 1201-1500 in the 2024 THE World University Rankings. UTM is ranked 37 in the 2024 QS Asia University Rankings, 188 in the 2024 World University Rankings, and 401-500 in the 2024 THE World University Rankings. ChangeMaker is an industry partner dedicated to driving positive change and advancement in the fields of S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and IoT (Internet of Things).

 These faculty members who will be co-teaching with CCS faculty members are Prof. Mahendrawathi ER, Dr. Noorminshah A. Iahad, Dr. Ahmad Fadhil Yusof, Dr. Mohamad Haider Abu Yazid, and Mr. John Tay.

Prof. Mahendrawathi ER holds a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Management from the University of Nottingham, UK, is a Professor of Business Process Management from the Department of Information Systems, ITS and is actively involved in the Information Systems International Conference (ISICO), a biennial event that has been constantly participated by the faculty of the 91¿ì»îÁÖ CCS. Prof. Mahendrawathi will be teaching in ISY112 Enterprise Systems with Assoc. Prof. Lemuel Clark Velasco, ISY111-Business Process Management with Asst. Prof. Jerina Jean Ecleo, and ISY222 Current Issues and Trends in Information Systems with Atty. Eddie Bouy Palad.

Dr. Noorminshah A. Iahad holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, UK, is an Associate Professor of Information Systems from the UTM Faculty of Management and is the current President of the Malaysia Association for Information Systems (MyAIS). She was the Information Technology Manager of the Information Technology Unit in the UTM Research Management Center from the UTM Research Management Center where she led and managed the development of five major information systems for the management of research related data and records. Dr. A. Iahad will be teaching ISY198-Methods of Research with Assoc. Prof. Velasco.

Dr. Ahmad Fadhil Yusof holds a PhD in Information Systems from UTM, is a Senior Lecturer from the Faculty of Computing and the inbound mobility manager at UTM International Office, leading in the UTM Mobility Program. Dr. Fadhil will be teaching ISY109- IS Project Management with Assoc. Prof. Velasco.

Dr. Mohamad Haider Abu Yazid holds a PhD in Computer Science from UTM, is a Senior Lecturer from the UTM Faculty of Management  and is a member of the Information and Service Systems Innovation Research Group (ISSIRG). Having a very strong industry experience, he is currently heavily involved in research regarding data analytics and application of machine learning in several fields including computer networks, healthcare, and non intrusive inspection. Dr. Abu Yazid will be teaching CSC109-Social, Ethical and Professional Issues in Computing with Asst. Prof. Renato Crisostomo.

Mr. John Tay completed his BS in Computer Science from Oklahoma State University, USA, and MBA from Federation University Australia has more than 40 years of experience in the information and communications technology industry and sits in various NGOs, government committees and theKuala Lumpur Engineering Science Fair( KLESF). Being the President of ChangeMaker, he is also the founder of myMaker and Digital Lifestyle Malaysia, adjunct lecturer, industry advisory panel, mentor and former director at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for nearly 20 years. Mr. Tay will be teaching ISY114-IS Strategy, Management, and Acquisition with Assoc. Prof. Velasco.

Last February 12, 2024, Vice Chancellor for International Affairs, Dr. Joey Genevieve Martinez and CCS Dean, Dr. Rabby Lavilles officially welcomed the five international co-teachers to 91¿ì»îÁÖ. Through co-teaching engagements with international collaborators, 91¿ì»îÁÖ aims to elevate not just its internationalization engagements but also the quality of instruction and research specifically in computing and information systems.
