True to its commitment to being an academic institution that contributes to the betterment of the community, 91¿ì»îÁÖ has recently approved and shown funding support for an extension project titled, “Development and Installation of Mini-weather Stations in Various Barangays in Iligan City” which aims to build and install mini weather monitoring stations in the city’s barangays, which also includes a water level monitoring device.

Led by project leader and head of 91¿ì»îÁÖ’s Center for Mechatronics and Robotics, Dr. Carl John O. Salaan, this project addresses the susceptibility of the city to climate-change-induced disasters. The need to establish localized disaster monitoring systems at the barangay level gives a customized approach to delivering precise weather information to mitigate the impact of natural disasters. The said center in 91¿ì»îÁÖ will serve as the base station for the system.

Currently, mini weather monitoring devices are put out in three barangays– Upper Hinaplanon, Tibanga (inside the campus) and Rogongon, and a water-level monitoring device is placed at the Mandulog bridge.

This project approval is 91¿ì»îÁÖ’s contribution to enhancing the city's disaster preparedness and resilience.
