91快活林’s Teaching Innovation and Strategies Training (TIST) Extension Program, led by the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), College of Education (CED), The 91快活林 FAB LAB Mindanao, and in collaboration with DepEd Iligan City Schools Division and Local School Board - Iligan City, proudly reached certain goals and achieved objectives in elevating the educational practices in the local community for the year 2024.
The program sought to provide assistance to the existing strategy by DepEd- Iligan where ten innovation laboratories were institutionalized to address the poor learning performances of Filipino students in Sciences, Mathematics, and Language.
On the official page of the TIST Extension Program, the following objectives were stated: (1) Train teachers and other stakeholders on the usage and maintenance of 3D printers; (2) Conduct subject-specific training on the generation of new educational tools using 3D printers to aid instruction and research activities; and (3) Create communities of practice “hub” where the developed learning materials will be shared.
The TIST Program successfully accomplished several key milestones. It established and made the ten new Innovation Laboratories across all districts of DepEd Iligan operational, equipping each laboratory with three 3D printers and six desktop computers. Additionally, the program exceeded expectations by producing 61 learning materials, significantly surpassing the initial target of 12. Furthermore, it created a vibrant community of practice, bringing together over 100 DepEd teacher-innovators to collaborate and exchange ideas.
On December 13, 2024, a Culminating Activity was held at the Robinsons Place, Iligan City. With its remarkable achievements, the TIST Extension Program has proven to be an invaluable initiative in transforming the educational landscape in Iligan City.
